  • 1 tablespoon evaporated milk or cream

  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips

  • 2 teaspoons shortening


Instructions

  1. Make the cookie dough:

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

    • Mix in vanilla extract.

    • Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until combined into a dough.

  2. Form and bake cookies:

  3. Prepare caramel layer:

  4. Add chocolate topping:

    • Melt chocolate chips with shortening in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.

    • Spread melted chocolate over caramel layer.

    • Chill cookies until chocolate is firm.
