Description

Indulge in this no-bake, layered dessert featuring airy angel food cake, creamy vanilla pudding, tart cherry pie filling, and a fluffy whipped topping. A delightful treat that’s as easy to make as it is to enjoy!


Ingredients

  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding

  • 1½ cups whole or 2% milk (or half-and-half for a richer taste)

  • 1 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt

  • 1 (14 oz) pre-made angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

  • 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (e.g., Cool Whip)

  • 2 tablespoons toasted slivered almonds (optional, for garnish)


Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and milk until smooth and thickened.

  • Fold in the sour cream or Greek yogurt until well combined.

  • In a 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the angel food cake cubes evenly at the bottom.

  • Spread half of the cherry pie filling over the cake cubes.

  • Pour half of the pudding mixture over the cherries, spreading it evenly.

  • Repeat the layers with the remaining cake cubes, cherry pie filling, and pudding mixture.

  • Spread the whipped topping over the final pudding layer.

  • Drizzle the remaining cherry pie filling over the whipped topping.

  • Sprinkle with toasted slivered almonds, if desired.

 

  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

For a different flavor profile, consider using other fruit pie fillings such as blueberry or strawberry.

If you prefer a lighter version, opt for fat-free or reduced-fat versions of the pudding mix, milk, and whipped topping.
