Description

A hearty, cozy one‑dish meal packed with savory ground beef, tender cabbage, tomato-infused rice, and warm spices—perfect for satisfying weeknight dinners or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 1 small cabbage, shredded

  • 1 can (14.5 oz / 410 g) diced tomatoes (with juice)

  • 1 cup cooked rice

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Optional: shredded cheddar cheese for topping (approx 1 cup)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C) and lightly grease a 9×13‑inch (or similar) baking dish.

  2. In a large skillet over medium, cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned and onion is translucent. Drain excess fat.

  3. Stir in shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes (with juice), cooked rice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, paprika, plus salt and pepper. Cook ~5 minutes to meld flavors.

  4. Transfer mix to baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30–35 minutes until cabbage is tender. If adding cheese, uncover, sprinkle cheese on top, then bake an additional 10 minutes until melted and bubbly.

  5. Let rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish optional: parsley, sour cream, or red pepper flakes.

Notes

Perfect for leftovers: refrigerate up to 3–4 days or freeze single portions. Reheat with a splash of broth to refresh moisture.

Variations: add bell peppers, carrots, or mushrooms for extra color and nutrition.

Using lean beef helps reduce grease—drain if needed.
