Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef
-
1 small onion, chopped
-
1 small cabbage, shredded (about 4–5 cups)
-
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
-
1 cup cooked rice
-
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon paprika
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
1 cup shredded cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the meat is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.
-
Stir in the shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes (with liquid), cooked rice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5–7 minutes until cabbage softens slightly.
-
Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
-
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
-
Optional: Remove foil, sprinkle with shredded cheese, and bake uncovered for an additional 10–15 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
-
Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Cheese optional: Add shredded cheddar or mozzarella before the final bake for a cheesy top.
Rice tips: Great way to use leftover rice. White, brown, or even cauliflower rice works well.
Make ahead: Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated. Add 10–15 minutes to baking time if baking from cold.
Storage: Keeps well in the fridge for up to 4 days. Freezer-friendly, too!
