Description

This hearty Cabbage Beef Bake is a comforting one-dish meal made with tender cabbage, savory ground beef, juicy tomatoes, and rice. It’s a simple, budget-friendly recipe perfect for busy weeknights — all baked into one delicious casserole the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 1 small cabbage, shredded (about 45 cups)

  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained

  • 1 cup cooked rice

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the meat is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.

  3. Stir in the shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes (with liquid), cooked rice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5–7 minutes until cabbage softens slightly.

  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

  5. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

  6. Optional: Remove foil, sprinkle with shredded cheese, and bake uncovered for an additional 10–15 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.

  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Cheese optional: Add shredded cheddar or mozzarella before the final bake for a cheesy top.

Rice tips: Great way to use leftover rice. White, brown, or even cauliflower rice works well.

Make ahead: Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated. Add 10–15 minutes to baking time if baking from cold.

Storage: Keeps well in the fridge for up to 4 days. Freezer-friendly, too!
