Description

A quick, flavor-packed skillet dish combining savory ground beef, crisp-tender broccoli, and a sweet-savory sauce—ready in just 30 minutes. Perfect served over steaming white rice for a satisfying weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water

  • 6 Tbsp lower‑sodium soy sauce

  • 3 Tbsp packed light brown sugar

  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 Tbsp minced fresh ginger (from a 1″ piece)

  • 2 tsp unseasoned rice vinegar

  • 3 Tbsp neutral oil (canola), divided

  • 12 oz fresh broccoli florets (~5¼ cups)

  • 1 lb 90/10 lean ground beef

  • ½ tsp kosher salt

  • 2 tsp toasted sesame seeds (optional)

  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (optional)

  • Steamed white rice, for serving

Instructions

  • Mix sauce: Whisk together water, soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, garlic, ginger, and rice vinegar.

  • Cook broccoli: Heat 1½ Tbsp oil in a skillet over medium-high. Add broccoli and stir-fry ~4–5 min until bright green and crisp-tender. Remove and set aside.

  • Brown beef: Add remaining oil, ground beef and salt to the skillet; cook until browned, about 6–8 min, breaking up meat as you cook.

  • Combine: Return broccoli to the skillet. Pour in sauce mixture, bring to a simmer, and cook ~2–3 min until sauce thickens.

  • Finish & serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions (if using). Serve hot over steamed rice.

Notes

Use low‑sodium soy sauce to avoid excess salt.

Optional extras: red pepper flakes for heat; bell peppers or snap peas for color and texture

Try swapping neutral oil for sesame oil in the final sauce pour for added aroma.
