Description

An ultra-creamy twist on the classic grilled cheese! This sandwich layers tangy cream cheese and sharp cheddar between buttery, crispy bread slices for the ultimate comfort food. Perfectly golden on the outside and irresistibly melty on the inside.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 small, thick slices of bread (sourdough works great)

  • 8 slices cheddar cheese

  • 5 oz (150 g) cream cheese

  • 1 tbsp Parmesan cheese (optional)

  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional)

  • Butter, as needed for grilling


Instructions

  • In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese, Parmesan, and mayonnaise until smooth.

  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.

  • Lay one slice, buttered side down, and layer with a slice of cheddar, a scoop of the cream cheese mixture, and another slice of cheddar. Top with another slice of bread, buttered side up.

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.

  • Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes per side, pressing down gently.

  • Flip and cook the other side until the bread is toasted and the cheese is fully melted.

 

  • Slice and serve hot.

Notes

The Parmesan and mayo are optional but add great flavor and richness.

For added variety, mix in chopped bacon, jalapeños, or herbs into the cream cheese.
