Description

Indulge your sweet tooth with these irresistibly colorful and chewy Classic M&M Cookie Bars—a playful twist on the cookie you know and love, made easy in bar form. Overflowing with M&M’s and chocolate chips, they’re perfect for parties, lunchboxes, or anytime you need a fun, delicious treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, at room temperature

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup golden brown sugar, firmly packed

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1½ teaspoons pure vanilla extract

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda

  • ¾ teaspoon salt

  • 1½ cups M&M’s, plus extra for topping

  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips, plus extra for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 350 °F (175 °C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.

  2. Cream Butter & Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the room-temperature butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).

  3. Add Eggs & Vanilla: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.

  4. Whisk Dry Ingredients Separately: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Combine: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined—don’t overmix.

  6. Fold in Mix-ins: Gently fold in the M&M’s and mini chocolate chips, reserving a handful to sprinkle on top.

  7. Transfer: Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top. Sprinkle additional M&M’s and chocolate chips on top.

  8. Bake: Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking to keep the bars soft.

  9. Cool & Cut: Let the bars cool completely in the pan (about 15–20 minutes) before using the parchment to lift them out and cut into squares or rectangles.

Notes

Mix-ins Swap: Try adding peanut butter or pretzel pieces for a salty-sweet twist.

Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4–5 days; these freeze well too!
